Paint Protection Process

Paint Protection Process

Our Process
Step 1 - Arrival
We will inspect your vehicle together and make sure everything is in order.

At this point you are more than welcome to have a look round our showroom, or wait in our dedicated customer waiting area. In this waiting area you will find comfortable seating with free access to Wi-Fi, a TV where you can play on Play Station or watch Netflix. Along with complimentary refreshments and toilet facilities. We also have a link into our workshop CCTV system should you wish to watch the progress of your vehicle.

Step 2 - Protect
Every vehicle that comes to us is fitted with temporary mats, seat cover and steering wheel cover. Our industry is not exactly a dirty one, however we prefer to take every precaution when your pride and joy is in our care.

Step 3 - Cleanse
This step is 100% optional!! However we will need to clean the area that the paint protection film is being applied to. Most companies will just do with by using a cloth, however by doing this, if there is any soiling present on the exterior this could damage the paint where the vinyl is being applied. Due to this we will use a high-pressure wash and rinse with an industrial grade pressure washer (Ehrle HD723) first, to remove any heavy soiling. Before gently wiping down the application area.

Step 4 - Paint Prep
If the paint has any swirling present, once the PPF is applied, this will still be visible. However now with the film applied, you will not be able to correct it unless the film is removed. We advise getting the paint corrected in the areas that the PPF will be applied. You can have this done before arrival, or we can organise it for you. We use a Gyeon accredited detailer who comes to us for this service. As a minimum we will clay and hand polish the paint surface.

Step 5 -  Stretch and Install
PPF does not require heat to the stretched to the contours of your vehicle, however does require a warm environment. Our workshop is temperature controlled, so no issues there.

Step 5 - Trim
There will be excess vinyl that needs trimming off. Depending on the application this may be done in 2 ways. For larger area's that require a straight cut (bonnet, roofs) cut tape will be used. This is a special tape that is applied before the film and then pulled through at the end. This leaves a perfect edge with no cutting on the car. For smaller areas like wing mirrors, a guarded knife will be used. This special knife will not come in contact with paintwork.

Step 6 - Clean and Inspect
Once the film is installed, we clean the area thoroughly and inspect for any defects or contamination. This rarely happens, but if anything is found the vinyl will be removed and redone till we are happy with it, and as your probably guessing by now our standards are very high.

Step 7 - Handover and walk round
At this point we will contact you to let you know your vehicle is ready for collection. If you are taking advantage of our onsite facilities, we will let you know it’s ready.

PPF film can be removal quite easily if required, with no damage to paintwork. Some people do this just before the sale of car as the paint work under the film will be as good as the day the film was applied.
